Tropical Depression Hagibis Update #3 (Landfall)

Hagibis has made landfall in Guangdong Province and has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression. The system was last located approximately 330km east northeast of Hong Kong. Maximum sustained winds are now down to 55kph with gusts of up to 75kph. TD Hagibis is moving northward at 10kph.

Latest satellite image shows clouds associated with Hagibis continue to move inland across parts of Guangdong and Fujian Provinces. Convection has slightly increased over the past 6 hours leading to widespread light to moderate rains in the region.

Hagibis made landfall as a Tropical Storm last night and moved near the city of Shantou. Wind gusts of up to 100kph were reported in some areas, as well as rainfall accumulations of around 50mm. Latest radar image is still showing bands of moderate rain impacting the region. We expect additional 50mm to be reported throughout the day today.

Hagibis will continue moving slowly northward and will continue to lose strength as it moves farther inland.
