Tropical Storm Sonamu continues to suffer from strong southeasterly wind shear. The image below shows how asymmetrical Sonamu looks right now with much of the convection being blown off to the northwest. Apart from leaving the low-level center partially exposed, the clouds blown off are reaching Southern Vietnam bringing light rains in the region.

TS Sonamu will continue moving slowly southwestward across the South China Sea. It may also start to weaken today, perhaps becoming a tropical depression as early as tomorrow. Latest forecasts have also changed with a track towards Malaysia becoming less likely.

We'll have another update later this afternoon.
