Our first video update for the newest system in the Western Pacific. Tropical
Storm Kai-Tak (Bagyong Helen) is the 13th named storm this year in the
Western Pacific Basin. The system is currently moving across the
Philippine Sea, roughly 500km east of Luzon. Although still, far the
system is already bringing rains across Eastern and Southern Luzon.
Furthermore, inflow bands induced by Kai-Tak’s large circulation are
also enhancing showers across Central Luzon including Manila.
Unfortunately, rains will linger for much of Luzon in the next few days.
Current forecast tracks are taking Kai-Tak across Luzon Strait (no
landfall) and possibly into Guangdong Province by Friday.
As of 5pm today, PAGASA has issue d Public Storm Warning Signal #1
for Quirino, Aurora, Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Cagayan, Babuyan,
Calayan, and Batanes Group of Islands. These areas will continue to see
rains with amounts of up to 50mm. Winds of up to 64kph will also be felt
in these areas beginning tonight and tomorrow. The coast will be rough
as Kai-Tak/Helen starts to induce high waves.
We'll have our Text Update for Kai-Tak/Helen in about an hour.
