Typhoon Talas Update #15

Just some quick updates with Talas. It is now less than 500km away from Shikoku. Winds remain at 120kph. Talas is moving northwestward at 10kph.

Outer rain bands are now affecting much of Shikoku, Western Honshu including the Kii Peninsula, and the eastern parts of Kyushu. Expect rainfall rates of 10mm per hour. Some thunderstorms are embedded along these bands which can produce rates of as much as 30mm/hr. For more radar images from JMA, please click HERE

No major changes with the forecast--we still expect a landfall in Shikoku late Friday night or very early Saturday (Japan Time).
