Typhoon Roke Update #15 (Brief)

Brief update: Typhoon Roke is now making landfall in Eastern Shizuoka, particularly near Hamamatsu. Based on appearance on radar and satellite, it looks like Roke has maintained its typhoon intensity upon landfall, just like we forecast.

Roke is quickly moving northeastward at around 30kph. Typhoon-force winds extend to about 50 to 60km away from the center. Much of Shizuoka will experience Typhoon conditions for the next hour or so. Same goes for Kanagawa, Yamanashi, Tokyo, Saitama, and Chiba Prefectures. Widespread rain is also covering much of Chubu, Kanto, and Tohoku Regions. Rainfall rates of more than 50mm/hr should be expected as well as the threat of thunderstorms and tornado.
