Typhoon Nock-Ten (Juaning) Update #10

Nock-Ten (Bagyong Juaning) strengthens more as it moves closer towards Aurora. Juaning was last located approximately 170km northeast of Manila or about 60km southeast of Baler. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 120kph with gusts of up to 150kph. Juaning is moving west northwestward at about 15kph. This storm is now a Typhoon in the Saffir-Simpson Scale.

Please do note that only the USNO-JTWC classifies Juaning as a typhoon. JMA is classifying it as a Severe Tropical Storm while PAGASA just a Tropical Storm.

We are expecting Juaning to make landfall in the next 1 to 2 hours near Baler, Aurora. It will then move across Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, and La Union throughout today. By late afternoon today, Juaning will be moving across Benguet/La Union. It will exit Luzon by early evening (around 6 or 7pm).

Heaviest rains are located west and south of the storm center. Strongest winds, meanwhile, are located south and east of the center. Closest point of approach to Manila will be about 180km north at around 2pm today. Typhoon force winds extend to less than 50km from the center. Tropical Storm winds extend to about 150km away.
