TD 05W (Dodong) Update #2

Tropical Depression 05W or Dodong continues to move away from Luzon. It was last located approximately 200km NW of Manila or about 120km SW of Dagupan City. TD 05W is moving north northwestward at 15kph.

At 12pm today, PAGASA has raised Public Signal Warning #1 to Metro Manila, Bataan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Pangasinan, and Cavite.

While the system is moving away from Luzon, light to moderate rain will continue throughout today into tomorrow. As of 2pm today, weather stations continue to report rainfall amounts of between 50 and 150mm for a 24 hour period.

Our preliminary forecast takes TD 05W north towards Southeastern China. We expect it to intensify into a tropical storm either tonight or tomorrow. Our projected landfall is somewhere east of Xiamen on Saturday. Our forecast is faster than JTWC and PAGASA.

Among the computer models, only the ECMWF is developing this system.
