Typhoon Megi Update #30

Typhoon Megi has made landfall about an hour ago near Xiamen, China. Maximum winds are estimated to be around 130kph. Rain bands and gusty winds are also affecting Western Taiwan (some weather stations reporting wind gusts as high as 80kph).

Megi is forecast to rapidly weaken now that it is over land. It is expected to dissipate in 36-48 hours.

TD 16W and TD 17W

No significant updates for these two systems. TD 16W is still a weak system as it moves westward. It will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility sometime tonight; it will be named "Katring" by PAGASA. TD 16W is not forecast to impact the Philippines though. TD 17W, meanwhile, is now moving northeastward; it is forecast to dissipate in 24-36 hours.
