TS Lionrock Update #07

TS Lionrock strengthened slightly this past 12 hours. Maximum sustained winds are now at 80kph. It is almost stationary at the moment due to the weak steering, as well as possible interaction with a low northeast of Taiwan. Lionrock's track remains unclear due to the poor agreement between the numerical models, as well as the different weather agencies in the region. As a result, we have moved our track forecast a little bit to the east. (Again, this will all depend on the interaction between these two systems, and with Kompasu moving closer, the track will become more uncertain.) Our forecast is for Lionrock to slowly move to the northeast and then turn to the north northwest, making landfall near Shantou late Wednesday/early Thursday; Lionrock should also slowly strengthen, perhaps into a severe tropical storm.
