Tropical Storm Tembin (Igme) Update #3

Tropical Storm Tembin (Bagyong Igme) is quickly intensifying east of Luzon. It was last located approximately 320km east southeast of Aparri, Cagayan. Maximum sustained winds are now at 110kph with gusts of up to 140kph. Tembin is currently moving northward at 5kph.

Public Storm Warning Signal #1 by PAGASA is still up for Isabela and Cagayan.

Latest satellite image shows an eye starting to form on the infra-red. Convective activity remains fair with goo dual outflow channels.Tembin remains in a really good environment with weak wind shear and warm sea surface temperatures. Tembin will likely become a typhoon later today.

TS Tembin (Igme) is forecast to accelerate to the north and is still expected to make landfall in Taiwan by Thursday. Based on the latest trends, Tembin will become a typhoon today and could undergo a round of rapid intensification tonight or tomorrow. With that said, Tembin could peak at a Category 2 or even 3 intensity by Wednesday. If you are in Taiwan, PLEASE continue to monitor the developments and start your preparations NOW!
