Tropical Update

Philippines continue to enjoy mostly clear skies but that could change in the coming days, especially in the south, as a tropical wave approaches the country from the east. Rains also continue to affect our neighbors up north, especially around Hong Kong. Just to the west of the region, reports of 50 to 100mm of rain abound.

As seen on the satellite, high cloud tops continue to move across Southeastern China bringing thunderstorms into Hong Kong and surrounding areas. There could be another 50mm of rain tonight. As for the Philippines, weather will remain clear today with temperatures again rising into the mid 30s.

Expect generally quiet weather for much of the country in the next 24 hours. Then, showers could start to move in later tomorrow, especially in Eastern Mindanao and Visayas. Luzon will remain dry over the next 2 days while Visayas and Mindanao could get some moderate rains over the weekend. Recent model outputs show the heaviest of rains to move into Northern Mindanao by Friday evening. We're expecting between 50 and 100mm by then. Tropical cyclone development for this wave is very low.

Next Update will be on Sunday, April 22.
