TS Roke (Onyok) Update #6

Surprise, surprise! Tropical Storm Roke has re-entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility today. It was last located approximately 250km southeast of Okinawa, moving southward at 15kph. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 85kph gusting to 105kph.

Tropical Storm Roke continues to intensify and consolidate further; a closer look at the VIS image suggests that an eye might be trying to form now. Roke is a very compact storm with tropical storm-force winds not really reaching Okinawa.

This radar image from JMA shows the rain bands southeast of Okinawa.

We'll disuss Roke's future track as well as an update on the other Tropical Storm--Sonca which is also intensify right now--later in our 4pm update.
