Tropical Storm Roke Update #10

Please read our other update for info on Typhoon Sonca.

Roke remains a strong tropical storm as it slowly moves towards Japan. Maximum sustained winds remain at 110kph gusting to 140kph. Roke was last located approximately 210km east of Okinawa moving northwestward at 10kph.

Radar image from JMA continues to pick up the eastern semi-circle of Roke with bands of moderate to heavy rain, although it's not really affecting any islands at the moment.

Tropical Storm Roke is forecast to continue moving slowly to the northwest. It will pass very closely to the east of Amami-Oshima later tonight. Roke is then forecast to start turning more to the northeast towards Honshu. As far as strength goes, conditions still remain favorable and we still expect another burst of intensificaiton today and into tonight.

We'll have more update on Roke later today.
