Tropical Storm Haitang Update #6 (LANDFALL)

Tropical Storm Haitang is about to make landfall near Da Nang, Vietnam, approximately 550km south of Hanoi. Maximum sustained winds are at 65kph gusting to 90kph. Haitang is moving westward at 20kph.

IR Image shows very cold cloud tops, indicative of intense convective activity moving over much of Central Vietnam. This will bring widespread rains of as much as 300mm or even more.

Haitang will continue moving westward across Vietnam and should weaken to a depression later this morning. It could dissipate over Laos later tonight. In fact, JTWC has given their Final Warning for Haitang. We will continue issuing updates until JMA stops.
