Typhoon Muifa Update #28

Typhoon Muifa continues to move north and is now affecting South Korea. It was last located approximately 220km west southwest of Jeju Island. Maximum sustained winds remain at 120kph gusting to 165kph. Muifa is moving northward at 20kph.

Rain reports from Eastern China indicate around 100mm of rain has fallen in that region. Meanwhile in South Korea, radar from KMA shows widespread light to moderate rain now moving across Jeju and the southwestern portion of the peninsula. Jeju and cities like Mokpo could receive 100-200mm in the next 12 hours.

Tropical storm-force winds and strong waves will also affect Jeju and the western coastal sections of South Korea. These conditions will likely persist for the next 6 to 12 hours.
