Typhoon Muifa is now affecting Eastern China, particularly the provinces of Zhejiang ang Jiangsu. It was last located approximately 250km east of Shanghai. Muifa remains a Category 1 typhoon with winds of around 120kph gusting to 165kph. Muifa is moving northward at 20kph.
Eastern sections including Shanghai continue to report tropical storm-force winds of up to 70kph with occasional gusts reaching up to 100kph. Moderate to heavy rain is also affecting the region with amounts of 100-200mm in 24 hours expected.
Muifa will continue moving northward and conditions in eastern coastal areas such as Shanghai should improve over the next 12 hours. It will make another landfall in Shandong Peninsula early tomorrow as it weakens to a Tropical Storm.
