Tropical Storm Muifa Update #30

Tropical Storm Muifa is now located approximately 220km west of Seoul. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to 100kph gusting to 140kph. Muifa is moving northward at 25kph.

KMA Radar continues to show light to moderate rain affecting much of Korea, especially along the western sections. As much as 300mm of rain have already fallen in some places and we expect additional 100 to 200mm more to fall throughout today.

Strong winds also affecting western parts of both North and South Korea with places reporting around 30-50kph and with occasional gusts reaching up to 70kph.

Muifa is also affecting Northeastern China at the moment--bringing moderate rain through parts of Shandong and Liaoning Province. Rainfall amounts of 200-400mm could also fall in these regions.

Conditions like this will continue for South Korea for at least 6 more hours while for North Korea and Chinese provinces of Shandong and Liaoning, expect stormy conditions to last for more than 12 hours. Muifa is forecast to pass within 200km east of Yantai later today and then make landfall in Liaoning Province/North Korea Area, approximately 200km east of Dalian, later tonight.

Muifa is expected to dissipate over NE China in two to three days' time.
