Tropical Storm Nock-Ten (Juaning) Update #12

Over Land

Tropical Storm Nock-Ten (Bagyong Juaning) is now moving across Nueva Vizcaya after making landfall in Dipaculao, Aurora about 10am today. It has weakened to a tropical storm with winds of up to 100kph gusting to 130kph. Juaning is moving west northwestward at 15kph.

Light to moderate rains continue to affect much of Luzon, as far north as Ilocos Norte and as far south as the Bicol Region. Rainfall amounts of up to 150mm in 6 hours (200mm/6 hr isolated) can fall especially south and east of the system. Lighter rain amounts of up to 50-100mm in 6 hours can be expected as far south as Southern Luzon (including Metro Manila).

Heavy rain is also being felt near the storm center especially to the south of the circulation as evidenced by the IR image. Strong winds of up to 100kph extend up to 50km away from the center while winds of up to 60kph can be experienced as far as 150km away.

Tropical Storm Juaning is forecast to continue moving west northwestward and should pass near Baguio City by 4pm today. It will then move towards Ilocos Sur/La Union area before exiting into the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea) later tonight. It should leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday.
