Tropical Storm Ma-On Update #4

Tropical Storm Ma-On is now quickly intensifying as it continues to move westward. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 85kph with gusts of up to 110kph. TS Ma-On was last located approximately 1050km northeast of Guam.

Latest IR image shows much improved convection curving into a circulation center. Water Vapor imagery, meanwhile, continues to show a TUTT cell northwest of the system that is impeding the western half of the storm from developing further. We did say yesterday that conditions look to be improving and JTWC did note it on their recent discussion.

Forecasts remain the same with computer models; diverging a bit on day 4 and beyond. Intensity forecasts from the models are also showing a very deep and strong typhoon by that time frame.
