TD Haima Update #10|TS Meari Update #2

Haima has weakened to a tropical depression as it nears landfall in Southwestern Guangdong Province. Maximum sustained winds are at 55kph; the storm is moving northwestward at 15kph. Hong Kong is reporting tropical storm force winds that is why Signal #3 is in effect for the region there.

The forecast calls for a landfall early tomorrow in Guangdong Province, near the city of Zhanjiang. The remnants will then continue to move towards northern Vietnam, bringing moderate to heavy rain in that country in 2-3 days.

Falcon, meanwhile, has now been upgraded to a Tropical Storm by the JMA. TS Meari was last located approximately 360km east of Virac, Catanduanes. Sustained winds can reach up to 65kph. The storm is moving WNW at 20kph.

The forecast is in agreement with the computer models. We are thinking it'll track away from Luzon and pass east of Taiwan on Friday. Just note that JTWC and JMA are actually forecasting a track across Taiwan and Eastern China (Shanghai). Long term forecast shows the system moving into Yellow Sea and into the Korean Peninsula.
