Tropical Depression 02W Update #2

Tropical Depression 02W (formerly 'Amang') left the Philippine Area of Responsibility earlier today as it moves north-eastward. It was located approximately 560 km west northwest of Guam. Maximum sustained winds are estimated to be around 55kph. TD 02W is forecast to strengthen slightly, possibly becoming a tropical storm as early as tonight. It is expected to pass through the Northern Mariana Islands, mainly north of Saipan. Moderate to heavy rain should be expected, especially on the northern half of the circulation center. Rainfall amounts of 4-8 inches (24 hours) are likely. TD 02W will continue moving to the northeast and should begin to weaken on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the remnants of TD 01W in the South China Sea (SW of the Philippines) is still being watched for possible redevelopment.
