Tropical Depression 18W Update #1

Tropical Depression 18W has formed over South China Sea today. Maximum sustained winds are at 45kph. It is moving northwestward at around 10kph. TD 18W is not expected to strengthen beyond tropical depression strength. It is forecast to continue moving northwestward towards Central Vietnam (landfall likely in 24hours). The system could bring rainfall amounts of 100-200mm in a region where massive flooding has been a problem over the past few weeks.
