Typhoon Megi continues to move northward. It remains a category 3 with winds of 185kph. No changes in the forecast. Megi will slowly weaken before making landfall in Southern China (near Shantou/Xiamen) this Saturday.
The tropical disturbance in the Western Pacific is now a tropical depression. TD 16W was last located approximately 850km south of Iwo To (JTWC--11am). It has maximum winds of 45kph and is moving west northwestward at 10kph. It is forecast to slowly strengthen, becoming a tropical storm tomorrow.
