Typhoon Juan (Megi) Update #23

Typhoon Juan (Megi) continues to move northwest, away from Luzon. Juan has also started to regain intensity and is now back to a Category 4 typhoon with maximum sustained winds of around 215kph. Juan was last located approximately 360km west northwest of Dagupan City; it is moving nw at 10kph.

Major developments today with regard to the track. Computer models have continued to shift their forecasts to the east. It currently looks like Typhoon Megi will make landfall this weekend somewhere near Shantou in Guangdong, China. However, expect the forecast track to keep changing for one more day, until the computer models get a better handling on the upper level environment that is influencing Typhoon Megi's movement. Right now, places like Hong Kong, Shantou, Xiamen, and Kaohsiung (Taiwan), need to closely monitor the track of Megi as they are all inside the forecast envelope.
