Typhoon Juan (Megi )Update #20

Super Typhoon Juan (Megi) made landfall at around 1130am PhT somewhere in Divilican, Isabela. It has since tracked west southwestward towards the Cordillera Region and into Ilocos Sur/La Union. Juan has weakened significantly after landfall and is now down to a Category 2 typhoon with maximum sustained winds of about 175kph. Typhoon Juan is currently moving westward at 20kph.

Good news is that the eye of Typhoon Juan has already exited the island of Luzon, based on latest data. Typhoon Juan was last located approximately 90km northwest of Dagupan City, in Pangasinan. However, we expect Typhoon Juan to begin restrengthening as it is now over South China Sea. Pangasinan, Zambales, Tarlac should expect tropical storm-force winds in the next few hours or so. We don't have available wind readings from weather stations of PAGASA so we cannot accurately determine which areas will get hit with strong winds. For Bataan, Pampanga, and even Central Luzon, including Manila, as well as Southern Luzon, expect gusty winds and occasional moderate to heavy rain.

In some areas, there could be as much as 200mm of rain for the next 6 hours so expect widespread flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Also expect some minor flooding even in Manila.

Always refer to PAGASA for the latest OFFICIAL storm warnings and information.

Next update will be around 6am PhT (Tuesday).
