Super Typhoon Juan(Megi) Update #14

Juan has undergone rapid intensification and is now classified as a super typhoon.

Super Typhoon Juan (Typhoon Megi) was last located approximately 480km ENE of Tuguegarao, Cagayan. It is packing maximum sustained winds of as much as 270kph (1-min ave.); with gusts reaching up to 325kph. Juan is moving to the west at 25kph.

Forecast remains unchanged. Since the projected landfall is still 10-12hours away, we expect STY Juan to intensify more, reaching a peak intensity of about 280kph. Landfall is forecast to occur midday on Monday, roughly 50m east southeast of Aparri. Juan will continue to move west southwest, moving very near Tuguegarao. It will significantly weaken as it crosses the Cordillera region, becoming Category 2 by late Monday evening. Juan will then pass near the city of Vigan Monday night/early Tuesday. It will exit the island of Luzon by Tuesday morning.

A video update is being uploaded and will be posted later.
