Tropical Storm Meranti Update #06

Meranti made landfall near Quanzhou, China earlier this morning as a category 1 typhoon with maximum sustained winds around 120kph and gusts of up to 150kph. Meranti has weakened since then and has been downgraded into a tropical storm.

Tropical Storm Meranti is packing sustained winds of about 95kph. It is moving to the north at a speed of 25kph. It is forecast to dissipate over Eastern China as it interacts with the rugged terrain in this region. However, there is a possibility that this will re emerge off into the Yellow Sea and perhaps strengthen again into a tropical storm. We will have to keep watching this storm as it moves northward.
