Tropical Storm Fanapi (Inday) Update #3

Tropical Storm Fanapi (Inday) continues to intensify as it moves slowly to the northeast. Maximum sustained winds are now at 100kph with wind gusts of around 130ph. There are a few changes with the forecast.

Due to the better handling by the computer models, we have adjusted the track as well as the time of the landfall.

We expect Fanapi to start turning to the west sometime tomorrow; by then, it will have intensified into a typhoon. Its peak intensity should be around 150kph, although there is a chance it could attain category 2 status before landfall. How south the storm will end up depends on how strong the subtropical ridge will be in China. For now, we are expecting Fanapi to make landfall south of Taipei, Taiwan on Sunday (RP Time) as a minimal typhoon.
