Kompasu Update #05/Lionrock Update #08

Typhoon Kompasu

Kompasu has recently been upgraded into a typhoon by the JTWC (JMA upgraded it into a severe tropical storm). Maximum sustained winds are now at 120kph with gusts of up to 150kph. Kompasu has slightly slowed down to about 15kph (northwest). This could potentially delay the expected landfall on Okinawa. Furthermore, it could also give Kompasu more time to intensify.

Tropical Storm Lionrock

Lionrock has also slightly intensified. Winds are now at 85kph. It is almost stationary; no changes with the forecast track.

TD 09W

This tropical depression is northeast of Taiwan. It is very weak at the moment with winds only reaching 45-65kph. It could intensify slightly, but probably not tropical storm strength. We still have to see how it influences both Lionrock and Kompasu.
