W. Pacific Typhoon 2010

It's been more than three months since our last post and now we return to start the 2010 typhoon season for the Western Pacific.

There is a fair chance for a development of a tropical depression within the next 48 hours. 98W Invest is spotted around Micronesia and is struggling to develop due to the not so favorable conditions in the upper atmosphere. However, convective activity is still strong and with the high sea surface temperatures in the area, we expect the system to slowly form and develop. However, the track is still uncertain (if it does develop into a tropical storm). Most numerical models show it passing over the Visayas area by Thursday next week.
