Tropical Depression Lingling (Agaton) Update #3 (FINAL)

Issued (06 UTC) 2pm PhT 012014
____________________________

As expected Tropical Depression Lingling (Bagyong Agaton) is now dissipating east of Mindanao today. The center of the cyclone was last located approximately 370km east southeast of Davao City. Maximum sustained winds are now down to 45kph with gusts of up to 65kph. TD Lingling was last observed moving southward at 5kph.

Since PAGASA has downgraded Lingling/Agaton to a Low Pressure Area, the agency has now lowered all Public Storm Warning Signals in effect for the country. However, PAGASA is still warning for the potential of moderate to heavy rains especially in Mindanao.

Latest satellite image shows convective activity continue to be significantly sheared to the northwest. Strong upper level winds have really hindered Lingling from developing into a significant cyclone. However, its remnants will remain near Mindanao and the convection associated with this disturbance will likely continue bringing rains in the region.

As always, if you are in the affected areas in Mindanao, please consult with your local officials for the latest warnings. Stay safe!
