Tropical Depression 94W (Fabian) Update #1

Issued (1130 UTC) 730pm PhT 062013
________________________________

A new Tropical Depression has formed and this one is just to the west of the Philippines. Tropical Depression 94W (named Fabian by PAGASA) was last located approximately 280km west northwest of Dagupan City. Maximum sustained winds are at 45kph with gusts of up to 65kph. TD 95W is moving northward at 10kph.

Latest satellite image shows strong and expansive convective activity that is relegated more to the southern periphery of the system. Low-level center continues to develop with increasing winds in the periphery. Due to the proximity of Fabian to Luzon, there have been some scattered rains impacting parts of the region particularly the western portions. We expect rains to continue for parts of the Philippines over the next few days.

TD 94W (Fabian) is forecast to eventually turn northwestward and could impact Southern China by this weekend. It could also move close to Hong Kong bringing rains and winds in the area. We don't really expect 94W to intensify significantly throughout its lifetime although a Tropical Storm is a possibility.

We'll have another update tomorrow.
