Tropical Storm Sonca Update #8

Note: Update for Typhoon Roke will come out at 5pm today.

Sonca has weakened to a tropical storm as it begin extra-tropical transition. It is now moving east northeastward over the North Pacific at a speed of nearly 70kph! Maximum sustained winds have decreased to 110kph gusting to 140kph.

Extra-tropical transition if expected to be completed in 24 hours or so. Sonca is still maintaining a warm-core low although latest VIS image shows the system has begun to interact with the strong upper-level westerlies. JTWC has given their final warning on Sonca although JMA is still putting regular warnings. Sonca is not forecast to become a threat to land anymore.
