Typhoon Ma-On Update #10 | TD Tokage (Hanna)

Typhoon Ma-On continues to struggle developing as it moves westward. As of the latest JTWC warning, Ma-On has been downgraded to a Category 3 typhoon with maximum sustained winds of 195kpg gusting to about 240kph. Ma-On is moving westward at 20kph. Typhoon Ma-On should enter the PAR today.

Forecasts have not largely changed and we will have a more definitive outlook on Ma-On's eventual track hopefully later today. As we have said many times, when it will turn to the north is critical because a slight shift could change the landfall area down the road.

Furthermore, we still expect Ma-On to strengthen, despite the brief weakening this past few hours. The environment remains largely favorable although TY Ma-On will still need to battle dry air and sort out its large size and structure.

TD Tokage (Hanna), meanwhile, has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility as it is begins to be absorbed by the huge circulation of Ma-On. It should slowly be part of the convection and we expect final advisories on this storm will be released later this afternoon.
