Post-Tropical Cyclone Ma-On Update #24 (FINAL)

Ma-On is now becoming an extra-tropical cyclone as it moves east of Hokkaido. It was last located approximately 810km southeast of Sapporo. Maximum sustained winds are around 55kph with gusts of up to 85kph. Ma-On is moving northeastward at 35kph.

Latest ASCAT pass shows an elongated circulation with winds of up to 45kts to the northeast. VIS and IR image show Ma-On is now exhibiting extra-tropical characteristics. JMA is still classifying Ma-On as a tropical storm although they expect it to become extra tropical in 12 hours' time. The storm is forecast to continue moving away from Japan although high surf could still affect the eastern seaboard of Honshu and Hokkaido for the next 24 hours.
