TS Meari Update #8 with Video

Tropical Storm Meari is now becoming extra tropical as it moves across the Yellow Sea. Visual satellite image shows a well defined center but IR imagery shows very little convective activity. Nevertheless, light to moderate rain and gusty winds continue throughout East Asia.

Computer models and weather agencies continue to have good agreement in terms of forecast track. Landfall timing varies a little bit, however.

We expect TS Meari to make landfall later tonight somewhere in North Korea/China border. It will then move northeastward, dissipating in the process.
A new invest was spotted northwest of the Philippines. Still look disorganized and computer models are not developing this LPA into a storm. However, its presence, combined with the SW monsoon, will continue to bring rains throughout Luzon, especially the western sections.
