Typhoon Juan (Megi) Update #12

Typhoon Juan/Typhoon Megi continues to intensify as it begins to turn to the west. Juan was last located approximately 1050km east northeast of Manila. Typhoon Juan is moving to the west northwest at 25kph. It is forecast that Juan will turn to the west in the next few hours as the subtropical ridge north of system begins to strengthen. Typhoon Juan will also continue to strengthen for the next 36-48 hours, becoming a Category 4 on Sunday. No changes with the forecast track. We still expect Juan to make landfall just southeast of Aparri, Cagayan on Monday afternoon at or near Super Typhoon strength.

Due to the impending typhoon, PAGASA has already put 4 provinces under Public Storm Signal Warning no. 1:

Cagayan, Calayan Group of Islands, Babuyan Group of Islands, and Isabela
