Tropical Depression 11W Update #01

The weather disturbance north of the Philippines has become better organized and has been upgraded into a Tropical Depression. TD 11W is estimated to be 150km west northwest of Basco, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 55kph with gusts reaching up to 75kph. TD 11W is moving to the west southwest at 20kph.

TD11W is forecast to turn to the northwest. As the vertical wind shear weakens, TD 11W could slightly strengthen, perhaps becoming a tropical storm late tonight; it will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Thursday morning. TD 11W is expected to make landfall near Shantou, China by Thursday evening.
