TY Kompasu Update #09

Typhoon Kompasu is still a major Category-3 typhoon with winds of 185kph and gusts reaching 230kph. As it moves north, however, Kompasu will start encountering stronger vertical wind shear as well as cooler sea surface temperature, causing it to gradually weaken.

We expect Kompasu to make landfall north of Seoul as a strong Category 1, or perhaps a weak Category 2, on Thursday. It will then accelerate to the east, becoming extra-tropical as it moves over the Sea of Japan on Friday.
