Typhoon Prapiroon (Bagyong Nina) continues to intensify as it moves across the Philippine Sea. It was last located approximately 860km east of Luzon or about 980km south southeast of Okinawa. Maximum sustained winds are now 130kph with gusts of up to 155kph. Prapiroon is moving northwestward at 10kph.

Latest satellite image suggest that an eye may be forming with strong convective activity tightly wrapping around the center. Radial outflow remains excellent, wind shear is light, and sea surface temperatures are still warm.
Typhoon Prapiroon is now moving northwestward as we forecasted yesterday. This system will continue turning towards the north and could turn to the northeast by Friday. The consensus continues to get better as well with less differences on the model forecasts. However, we are still seeing shifts in the track on the 5-day forecasts so there are still some uncertainties present.
We'll have another update later this afternoon.
