TY Chanthu Update #8

Chanthu has been upgraded into Typhoon status. Maximum sustained winds are now at 130kph, equivalent to a Category-1 hurricane. TY Chanthu continues to move northwest and will make landfall near the city of Zhanjiang this afternoon/early evening (Philippine Time). 12-hour rainfall accumulations of as much as 200mm is expected especially for areas that will be within the eye of the storm. Chanthu will quickly dissipate after landfall.
